NIKOS A. SALINGAROS -- PROJECTS
While I am not a registered architect, I can collaborate on projects with other architects in any country. I am a member of the International Network for Traditional Buiilding, Architecture, and Urbanism College of Traditional Practitioners (ICTP), an elected international professional body for practitioners in traditional architecture and urbanism, and a member of the prestigious INTBAU Committee of Honor (ICoH), which comprises leading traditional practitioners from around the world, sponsored by His Royal Highness, Charles, the Prince of Wales.
EUROPE:
- Advisor to future urban and architectural planning in Prishtina, Kossovo. Collaboration with Besnik Murati and Bujar Demjaha.
- Possible advisory role in urban development in Italy in preparation for Expo 2015. Collaboration with Kenneth Masden and Michael Mehaffy.
- Vice-president of Katarxis Urban Workshops, based in Luxembourg City. Collaboration with Lucien Steil (President) and Michael Mehaffy (Secretary).
- Working on architectural projects in collaboration with José Cornelio-da-Silva, whose office is based in Lisbon, Portugal.
- Working on architectural projects in collaboration with Hadi Simaan, whose office is based in Berkshire, UK and Doha, Qatar.
LATIN AMERICA:
- Urban Plazas project for the City Government of Querétaro, Mexico. Developing generative pattern for constructing new urban plazas throughout the city of Querétaro. Collaboration with Ramón Abonce-Meza, Carlos Arvizu-García, and Stefania Biondi.
- "Megaproyecto" for Social Housing being developed for the Federal Government of Mexico. Proposal for solving the problem of uncontrolled squatter settlements throughout Mexico. Collaboration with Ernesto Philibert-Petit and Alexis Hugh Ramírez.
- Advisor to the Social Housing Research Group (Grupo de Estudos da Habitaçao de Interesse Social), Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, which is working with the Brazilian federal government. Collaboration with Carolina Palermo-Szucs, Roberto Deoliveira, and Alina Santiago.
MIDDLE EAST:
- Completed design for Commercial Plaza in a major capital city -- $82 million budget, 55,000 m2. Waiting for approval of client to make the design (and the names on the design team) public. Construction is expected to begin shortly.
UNITED STATES:
- Working on possible local projects in San Antonio, in collaboration with Kenneth G. Masden II.
- In discussions for urban projects in collaboration with Michael Mehaffy, and with the major names in New Urbanism and traditional practice, many of whom are my friends.
